Cresta Hotels is not in business for the purpose of winning awards, but I have to say it is a really great feeling when meaningful and respected accolades are presented to the company, to our hotels or to our people. We have been fortunate in this past year to have been recipients of such awards on a number of occasions, and this has made us feel pleased and proud.

So I would like to congratulate our whole team for the fine efforts being made, throughout the group, that are aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction but which have earned us the applause of people and organisations whose awards have come our way.

We shall not be sitting back, however, waiting for more such awards to be presented to us. We are using these awards as stimulants, reminding ourselves that it is only through hard work, dedication, determination and the application of the principles of quality that we shall not only earn more awards, but also create for our guests the welcoming and caring environment that they seek when they make use of our services – whether it is for an overnight stay in a suite or bedroom, or holding a conference or social event, or simply coming into our venues for a cup of coffee, a drink or a meal.

As a team we are working continually in a planned and sustained fashion to upgrade our physical product and further enhance our standards of service. Our guests expect the best that we can offer and we are striving to give it to them. One of our areas of focus is skills development in all areas of operation, not the least among them the creation of teams in our kitchens that gain recognition for excellence in the field of cuisine. It has been very pleasing to see culinary competitions and events in both Zimbabwe and Botswana, as well as to see individuals achieving success in this area, most notably when one of our chefs in Zimbabwe travelled as part of a Zimbabwe Chefs association team to the recent South african Culinary Cup competition. We would like to ensure that our cuisine is of the finest standard and variety that can be offered, and second to none in all respects.

Cresta Sprayview at Victoria Falls recently celebrated its first anniversary – and what a year it has been! Tourism arrivals in the Victoria Falls area have been increasing in number, and august was a record-breaking month for this resort town. Our own operation is successfully holding its own within the overall hospitality offering in and around the Victoria Falls town, and more and more visitors are enjoying the Cresta Smile from our bright and talented team in this hotel. Happy birthday Cresta Sprayview – and here's to many, many more years of growth and development, as well as of guest satisfaction.

As 2014 comes to and end and 2015 opens up, we in Cresta are hoping that business levels will increase and that we can further increase our own standing within the hospitality industry of the Southern african region. We will do this by reaffirming our commitment to pursuing our goals of improvement, expansion, development and widening our horizons. We have been very active internationally in promoting our destinations and showing the travel trade and consumers what a wonderful product we offer our guests in all our hotels. We are here for the long term, and we are part and parcel of the major effort being made across our sub-continent to attract visitors from across the globe, giving them an unforgettable and exceptionally enjoyable experience – one they wish to repeat and one they will tell all their contacts about.
